From MoMA to the State Department

The Museum of Modern Art established an International Council in 1953 and shortly thereafter came a concerted effort to exhibit modern American art abroad. The efforts of the International Council constituted the foundation of the Art in Embassies Program which was founded under the State Department a decade later.
